Caregivers

What are Caregivers

Caregivers (also known as private-duty, home care, custodial care, companion services, or personal assistance), provide task-specific or hourly non-medical homecare for senior adults who need help with everyday activities.  Service packages can be customized to fit specific frequency, day, and time needs.  The goal of Caregivers is to foster personal confidence, safety, and independent living.

Caregivers services are not typically covered under the Original Medicare benefit and are most commonly paid for out-of-pocket by the client or family.  Some long-term insurance plans have provisions to cover or help supplement the cost of Caregivers services.  Reliant at Home has a team of experts who will contact the long-term care provider to determine if Caregivers are a covered benefit.

Texas Health and Human Services licenses, certifies, and surveys home care services agencies for compliance with state and federal laws and regulations. Through these regulatory activities, HHS protects Texas citizens receiving home health, hospice and personal assistance services.

There are no physician order requirements to sign-up for a Caregivers service plan.

Caregivers are a wonderful solution when a little bit of help with a little bit of everything can make a big difference.  Activities and tasks that were once easy and second-nature become more difficult as aging takes a toll on memory, physical mobility, and energy.  Risk for hospitalization can increase dramatically as these changes occur.

Caregivers restore dignity and productivity, helping seniors thrive and remain safe where they live.  Here are just some of the services Caregivers can offer:

  • Grocery shopping and errands
  • Meal planning and special diet management
  • Light housekeeping
  • Companionship, conversation, and games
  • Laundry
  • Medication set-up, reminders, and reconciliation
  • Personal care like bathing, showering, grooming, and dressing
  • Safety checks
  • Pet care including walking and feeding
  • Daily schedule and social calendar planning
  • Incontinence care
  • Tech tutoring

Service plans can include any combination of tasks and bundled into monthly customized packages for each client’s needs.

Being independent is a highly cherished human nature.  A changing level of independence is also a natural part of the aging process.  The great news is that sustaining independence and enjoying life has never been easier.  And getting help doesn’t mean you are giving up.

Our job is to listen first, then help.  We can provide guidance on the services that will provide the most benefit.  It is the joy of our lives to help seniors thrive, live their best life, and remain as independent as possible, for as long as possible.  Care is our higher calling and it is our mission to serve and live up to the standards of the Reliant at Home Bluebird Promise.

Reliant at Home also offers services that require RN oversight such as medication reconciliation and set-up.  Because we offer the full continuum of home-based care and have teams of RNs available at any time, we can also quickly identify changes in level of care needs and coordinate Home Health, Hospice, or Rehab services if the patient or family consents.

Please download the Reliant at Home Caregivers Worksheet to help evaluate if services are necessary and which tasks might be the most beneficial.  (will provide worksheet)

In addition to Caregivers, Reliant at Home also provides these services:
